About The Institute of Maya Studies |

|
IMS Explorer continues its series on Pioneers of Maya Archaeology with a short biography of Charles P. Bowditch (1842-1921). Bowditch, a Harvard graduate, was an early supporter of expeditions to Mesoamerica by the Peabody Museum. That and more is coming in the April issue of IMS Explorer. |

The mission of the Institute of Maya Studies, Inc. (IMS) is to help spread knowledge on the pre-Columbian cultures of the Americas, with an emphasis on the study of the Maya. The IMS was founded in 1971 and is affiliated with the Miami Science Museum.
