Creating the Atlas of the Ancient Maya World

The Atlas of the Ancient Maya World is a comprehensive collection of maps displaying the locations of known ancient Maya archaeological sites. The Maya Atlas is designed for both the general public, scholars, and scientists. It includes not only the locations of sites but also other archaeological features such as causeways, fortifications, and inscriptions.

Dr. Walter R.T. Witschey

Dr. Walter R.T. Witschey, 

Research Fellow, Middle American Research Institute, Tulane University

is a Maya archaeologist and geographer. He is senior author of the Atlas of the Ancient Maya World, Historical Dictionary of Ancient Mesoamerica, and Editor of the Encyclopedia of the Ancient Maya. He has 60 years’ experience in teaching, in business management in both the public and private sectors, and in Maya archaeology.
